A Weekend in Vail, Colorado | Our Experience Staying at the Four Seasons Resort!
This November we were invited to a friendβs wedding in Denver and decided to make a little vacation out of it. My husband, Jason, has always wanted to ski/snowboard out west, and so we booked couple of nights in Vail at the Four Seasons Resort. We vlogged the trip (watch the video below), but I also wanted to write up a little blog post going into more detail on the Four Seasons Resort experience specifically because prior to us booking the trip I had wondered if it would be worth the price to stay there specifically. In this post Iβm sharing some proβs and cons about why you should or shouldnβt stay at The Four Seasons, why Vail is a great place to vacation, & how to make the most out of your Four Seasons booking.
Is Vail, Colorado A Good Place to Stay? What Is Special About Vail, Colorado?
What is special about Vail Colorado? Vail is one of the most beautiful resort destinations in Colorado! Itβs one of the more Luxurious mountain towns, fully catering to a relaxing and family friendly vacation. It has a quaint mountain feel while also providing lots of accommodations & activities for everyone like skiing, snowmobiling, shopping, and if your rising in the summer itβs also has hiking! This is a wonderful place to visit if you like outdoor adventure & a luxury experience!
Is it better to go to Aspen or Vail? Now having experienced both Vail & Aspen I can say both are worth the visit! However if you can only pick one for your trip to CO here is my pros and cons list of Vail VS Aspen.
VAIL PROS: Great Skiing, Luxury Accommodations with a family friendly feel, Cozy streets - think luxury but rustic and homey. More busy with lots to do. More affordable than Aspen. 5,200 acres of developed ski and snowboard terrain great skiing for beginners or experienced. More of a night life (bars, lounges, breweries, live music, etc). Local airport EGE (services flights from American, United, & Delta).
VAIL CONS: More Limited Shopping than Aspen (No designer stores for shopping), more of a busy town.
ASPEN PROS: 4 ski resorts and has lots of outdoor recreation activities. Luxurious and sophisticated feel to the town. More quiet & less crowded than Vail during peak seasons. The Aspen trees (stunning in the fall & worth seeing!). Luxury shopping & incredible dining. Family friendly but letβs be honest way more bougie lol.
ASPEN CONS: More expensive than Vail. Beautiful town but not as cozy of a charm as vail. Skiing is incredible but Vail has 1 Huge mountain and aspen has 4 smaller mountains, so depending on what kind of skiing experience youβre looking for Vail might be more your speed!
FOUR SEASONS RESORT VAIL EXPERIENCE
Our Experience Staying at the Four Seasons Resort - Is Staying at the Four Seasons Resort Worth It? Whatβs Included When You Stay at the Four Seasons Resort?
Is staying at the Four Seasons Resort Vail Worth The Price? This all depends on your vacation priorities! If youβre looking to have a very catered to & luxurious stay in Vail the Four Seasons is exactly that. With fewer than 250 rooms the Four Seasons Vail Resort you will surely be taken care of to the highest level. From the moment you arrive to when you leave all of your needs will be met with care and top professionalism from the hotel staff. They truly go above and beyond in all of the tinest details to make sure you enjoy your time staying at the resort.
What Are the Starting Nightly Rates for Accommodations?
If youβre curious about pricing, rooms at the Four Seasons Resort Vail typically begin around $600 per night. Of course, rates can fluctuate depending on the time of year, room type, and how early you book, but you can expect luxury accommodations to come with a premium price tag.
Why we loved our stay at Four Seasons Vail:
The service - every need is met to the higher level. From bags being delivered to your hotel room from the car, to having your ski equipment ready for you at the Four Seasons Ski concierge at the base of the Vail mountain. If you need anything - they will literally make it happen!
The Rooms & the Bed - When booking your stay at the Four Seasons you get to request what kind of pillow you would prefer to be in your room when you arrive (talk about attention to detail). The room is cozy and luxurious feeling - we got a room looking out to the mountains which was a beautiful touch. The actual bed is a DREAM (like Iβm looking at buying the sheets and pillows at this point). It makes you wish your bed at home was that comfy.
The Spa - What would a resort be without itβs crown jewel, the spa! We had the best massages of our lives at the Four Seasons Resort Spa. If you donβt feel like booking an additional massage you can still use the spa as much as youβd like while visiting! The spa has a sauna, steam room, hot bath, showers with eucalyptus spay, cozy robes, and an area to get ready after your relaxing spa experience!
Vail Ski Concierge - This had to be one of the most convenient things about staying at Four Seasons Vail. If you donβt have your own board, skis, or equipment you can easily get fitted down at the ski concierge by the lobby. They will measure you for your gear and have it ready right at the base of the mountain in their on-site ski rental building. Once you are ready to grab your ski equipment you can either have a Four Seasons shuttle take you over to the building or take the beautiful 7 min walk. From there you will be greeted by more Four Seasons staff and welcomed with complimentary food & drink that you are welcome to at any point of your day (we did lunch there while taking a mid-day break from our skiing). In that building you will be taken to get your gear and receive a locker to put your belongings in that you donβt want with you on your ski journey. When you are done for the day you can return your skis and gear to the Four Seasons Rental & they will shuttle you back to the hotel! β Should you bring your own gear theyβve also got you covered! When you arrive to the hotel they will send it over to the rental building so you donβt have to lug it to the mountain and will send it back to the hotel when you are ready to leave.
Staying at the Four Seasons Vail means youβre truly living the high lifeβand the new mountainside Chalet takes that experience to a whole other level. Imagine finishing a morning of skiing and having zero hassles. No more clomping awkwardly in ski boots across Vail Village or lugging your gear aroundβyour equipment is stored for you slopeside!
As soon as you arrive, the locker room greets you with all the essentials. Forgot your hand warmers or sunscreen? No worries. Need a little snack before you hit the slopes? Help yourself to protein bars, tea, or even a sweet treat like gummy bears from their refreshment bar.
But honestly, itβs not just about the gear or the freebiesβitβs the vibe. The upstairs lounge feels like a luxe, modern mountain cabin: think floor-to-ceiling windows, plush couches draped in faux fur throws, and polished wood tables. Whether youβre looking to warm up with a bowl of soup post-ski, cozy up by the fire with a book, or simply relax watching the snow fall, the space is designed for comfort and connection. Guests mingle, read, or challenge each other to a chess match, all while soaking in the alpine views.
Long story short: the mountainside Chalet makes your ski day as seamless and pampered as possible, blending easy access, thoughtful amenities, and seriously good après-ski lounging.
WHAT TO PACK FOR VAIL, COLORADO
What should you pack for visiting Vail, CO? How to dress for a vacation to vail in the winter?
Think layers! Itβs cold as heck, so be sure to bring a couple of fitted turtlenecks to wear under your sweaters for extra warmth. Also be sure to pack leggings to wear under your snow gear!
A hat and gloves - you wont regret packing these!
Shoes for walking in the town - Iβd recommend boots with some kind of grip on them. A lot of the roads wont have snow on them but itβs good to have comfy shoes that will keep your feet warm.
Lip balm & hand cream - again it really is that cold. Be sure to prepare for your skin to get dry and bring lotion and chapstick!
