My Favorite Shorts for the Summer!
I’m gonna be real with you guys… summer is not my favorite season to dress for. Nashville summers are hot and humid, and most days I’m doing the least when it comes to outfits. However, I find having solid pieces in my closet for hot days makes the weather a little more bearable and helps me feel a little more put together. I’m sharing my go-to shorts for the summer. I’ve rounded up my favorite denim shorts, tailored shorts, linen shorts, and more. So if you are looking for the perfect shorts for summer hopefully this blog post and youtube video will help you!

Outfit 1
Shorts: Size 24 in Foster Wash, Top: XS in Heathered Oat
Starting off with my most worn pair of denim shorts. These are the Madewell The Perfect Vintage Jean Short and I love these because they’re the perfect length if you’re petite. I feel like they make my legs look long, which I need! They also are classic madewell denim, super soft and broken in feeling. I’ve paired them with the Everlane The Luxe Rib Square-Neck Tank which is a great lightweight basic for summer. To accessorize I’ve got on the J. Crew New Colbie wide-strap buckle sandals in faux raffia and the Quince Italian Suede Slouchy Shoulder Bag in Whiskey. This is a newer bag to me, but I can already tell this will be a piece I’ll wear through the fall as well.

Shorts: Size 24 in Light, Top: XS in Off White Milk
If you’re looking for the perfect longer denim short that isn’t necessarily a “long short” (my short girls get it), these Abercrombie High Rise Dad Short are the perfect pair. They have a great inseam and come in a ton of different colors. I love this wash because it has a clean hem, which is hard to find in a light blue denim short. Paired with the shorts I’ve got on this Gap Factory Pointelle Scoopneck Top which is on major sale!! And for accessories I’m wearing my Everlane The Day Crossover Sandal in off white - they’re a shoe that literally goes with everything!! And for my bag I'm wearing my Madewell The Essential Sling Crossbody Bag which was just restocked in this gorgeous green suede.

Shorts: Size 24 in Medium Wash, Top: XS in Black and White Stripe
Here again with the Abercrombie High Rise Dad Short but in the perfect medium wash! These have the same high waisted fit and inseam length, but in a darker wash with a raw hem. For my top I’ve got on the Express Striped Fitted Ribbed High Neck Tank - love a good stipe for summer & this top is super stretchy and can be tucked in! For my shoes I have on the Sezane Lenny Low Mules. I love the gold buckle on these and for my bag I have on the The Luxe Medium Italian Leather Tote! This is such a great tote for work or vacation. I recently took it to Tokyo and it was perfect for being out all day!

Shorts: Size 00 in Bone, Top: XS in Warm Taupe
Okay these Everlane The Utility Short are so good!! If you’re looking for a high quality cotton short, these are chefs kiss! They’re super high waisted and are the perfect inseam length. They are also a nicer pair of shorts that you can easily dress up. For my top I’ve got on the Quince Eco-Knit Cropped Sweater Tank which they just restocked! I love the length of this top! For my shoes I’ve got on some great chocolate brown sandals - the J. Crew Georgina Sandals in Canvas. And to match the shoes, for my bag I have on the Quince Italian Leather Box Shoulder Bag!

Shorts: XXS in Black, Top: XS in Light Birch
I’m about to blow your mind… These Vuori Villa Trouser Shorts are made out of an activewear material! They literally feel like a pair of running shorts, super lightweight and breathable. Making them the perfect short if you live somewhere where it’s hot and humid (aka Tennessee lol). They have belt loops so you can add a nice belt to them, but they also have elastic in the back for extra comfort. Paired with the shorts, I’ve got on one of my nicer tanks the Aritzia Croquet Sweater Vest. I wanted to show you how you can dress up these shorts even though they’re an activewear fabric. For my shoes I’ve got on some of my favorite sandal, the Madewell The Mila Organic Hardware Thong Slide Sandal. These shoes elevate any outfit. And for my bag I’ve got on the Quince Italian Leather Handwoven Satchel.

Shorts: Size 0 in Light Birch, Top: XS in Mushroom
If you’re wanting a proper tailored short you have to try the Artizia The Effortless Short. These shorts come in 10 different colors, are super high waisted, and this fabric doesnt wrinkle!! Paired with the shorts I have on the Express Body Contour Stretch Cotton Boat Neck Tank - love me a good boatneck tank! And for my shoes I have on the The Luxe Medium Italian Leather Tote and my favorite comfy sandal, the Everlane The Suede Crossover Sandal

Shorts: XS in Chamomile/Brown Stripe, Top: XS in Sundried Olive
I personally love a good Boxer Short and these Buck Mason Mainstay Boxer Short are some of my favorites! Im new to Buck Mason, but everything I’ve seen from this brand is so gorgeous. The quality really stood out to me when I was in the Buck Mason store in Nashville, so I’m thinking a full Buck Mason dedicated try on haul might be in order!! For my top I’ve got on the Aritzia Rib Seamless Crew Tank - it’s the perfect tank, hands down. Smoothing, fitted, and so flattering! For my shoes I’ve got on the J. Crew New Colbie wide-strap buckle sandals in faux raffia again and my Madewell The Dakota Saddle Bag.

Shorts: XS in Flax, Top: XS in Chia Heather
Now onto my favorite category of shorts, linen shorts!!! I’ve got quite the collection of linen shorts right now and my favorites are the Quince 100% European Linen High Waisted Short. They’re high waisted, a great, longer inseam, and so comfotable! They come in tons of colors as well. If you' haven’t tried Quince, I could not recommend it more! I’ve gotten all of my friends on it as well, and we all have matching linen pieces from Quince!! Paired with the shorts I’ve got on the Vuori Halo Essential Scoop Tank - which is sooooooo soft! And my Everlane The Day Crossover Sandal and Sezane Claude bag.

Shorts: XS in Classic Mini Gingham, Top: XS in White
These next shorts are from Quince, like are we even surprised? These are the Quince 100% European Linen Shorts - they’re slightly shorter in the inseam than the previous pair, but so cute! I love the drawstring, and if you are shorter like me, you might actually prefer the shorter inseam on these shorts! Also I am obsessed with gingham right now, so these are obviously a favorite! For my tank I’ve got on the Madewell Smocked Boatneck Tank - I love the texture on this top! And my Madewell The Remy Mary Jane Flat and Sezane The Milo Vintage Textile Bag. Such cute summer accessories!

Finding activewear that actually fits when you're petite is tricky, but luckily Lululemon seems to always have what I need! This haul has the perfect summer pieces for exercising or just running errands - petite approved (I’m 5’2). Plus this butter yellow color might be one of the best colors to wear in the summer!
