Rare Beauty Soft Pinch Liquid Blush Honest Review

Recently I was sent the PR package of my literal dreams. Every single shade of the Rare Beauty Soft Pinch Liquid Blush. This is the blush that has gone viral on TikTok and IG - mostly because it’s actually that good! I decided it was time to swatch and try on every single shade because obviously we have to see all 13 shades on Asian olive skin :)

Watch the video below to see each shade on & read my thoughts on the Soft Pinch Blush here.

First of all if you haven’t tried the Rare Beauty Soft Pinch Liquid Blush yet, I’d highly recommend grabbing at least one shade from Sephora! This blush has been one of my favorites for years, and after trying the new shades I can honestly say it still holds up.

Should I use a liquid, cream, or powder blush? Why should I wear blush?

Over the last decade or so liquid and cream blushes have been all the rage! I remember growing up and associating blush with old dusty compacts from Clinique or Estée Lauder (no offense love those brands still tbh), but what I mean is blush was something my grandma always wore. I even remember her telling me to put blush on in high school and being only slightly offended that my cover girl mascara and MAC highlighter powder (in Soft and Gentle duh) wasn’t enough! Now its 2023 and I love blush. Not an exaggeration! If I’m doing a quick no-makeup, makeup look I’ll do my brows, add some blush, and a lip gloss. Blush makes the face come alive! Now, a powder blush is my default. In fact I have more than I dare to admit in my makeup drawer - you can never have too much blush, but over the past 3 or so years I’ve ventured into the more “clean girl” aesthetic of makeup. Aka cream and liquid makeup! I think my first ever liquid blush was a Glossier Cloud Paint (iconic truly), and I’ve been a fan ever since! There’s a certain look about a liquid or cream blush that the powder blush falls short of. I love wearing a liquid blush on light makeup days because it really melts into the skin creating a natural skin finish look. Sometimes powder makeup looks like makeup, and liquid/cream makeup looks like skin :)

NOTE: If I’m going for a full face makeup look I’ll wear powder blush - powder blush works much better over setting powder than liquid or cream blush.

Should I use the Rare Beauty Stay Vulnerable Melting Cream Blush or the Soft Pinch Liquid Blush?

If you have dryer skin try the Stay Vulnerable Melting Cream Blush & if you have more hydrated skin use the Soft Pinch Liquid Blush! This isn’t a rule - of course you can use whichever you want, but the cream Melting Blush will have a more moisturizing/oily feel to it which can be a bit much if you have oily skin to start with. The Soft Pinch Liquid Blush starts out as a liquid and blends out to a really nice lightweight sheer color. I wouldn’t say it turns into the feel of a powder, but it is noticeably less oily than the cream blush!

Does the Rare Beauty Soft Pinch Liquid Blush Last all Day?

Yes! These blushes infused with long-lasting color pigments that wear all day. A little truly goes a very long way with these blushes. You can see in my YouTube video that I barely have to use any - which is a huge plus! This blush will last you a long time.

How do you use the Rare Beauty Soft Pinch Liquid Blush? Does Liquid Blush go on top of foundation?

Liquid blush is applied to the same places of the face you would normally apply blush. I like to apply my liquid blush to my cheekbones and work in into the apples of my cheeks! You can watch my 5 Beauty Tips video for where I apply my blush (powder or liquid blush). I also like to apply blush to my nose because it gives my skin a sun-kissed look! You can either apply the Soft Pinch Liquid Blush on top of your foundation/concealer or under it. Applying the liquid blush under your foundation will give your skin an even more natural, lively look.
