Tovala Smart Oven and Meal Subscription Service: My Honest Thoughts + Discount Code
This month I got approached by Tovala asking if I would be interested in trying out their smart oven and meal subscription service. Is the Tovala Smart Oven Worth It?
Sometimes when I get asked to check out a product, I’m not sure what my expectations are about it. This was certainly the case with the Tovala smart oven. It’s not that I’m not excited, but like, it’s a toaster oven, how special can it be? I opened the box, downloaded the Tovala app, and paired it with the oven. It’s a super easy process that they walk you through. Once I plugged in the oven, it turned on by itself and started cleaning itself! I thought this was so cool. While it was doing that, I explored the app and realized this this is way more then just a toaster oven. Not only is the smart oven beautiful, but it is way more than just a looker. This thing is packed with practical, helpful features that make a regular toaster oven seem unhelpful.
What’s so special about the Tovala Oven? Can you cook other things besides just Tovala meals?
The Bar Code & QR Code Scanner: There is a barcode and QR Code scanner built into the Tovala oven that you can use to scan all of your favorite foods frozen foods like frozen pizzas (up to 10”), Trader Joes dishes & even Hot Pockets! The oven will automatically set its own temperature and time and cook it for you. No guessing on if the middle of you hot pocket is done. Rest assured it is cooked perfectly. :) (Note - you need to be connected to wifi to use this feature. You can use the the oven without wifi like a traditional multi-use oven, but the barcode scanner will not work because it accesses the recipes online.)
The Recipe Database: If frozen foods aren’t a regular part of your diet, Tovala has something here for you too. There are over 1000+ free recipes that you can cook using the smart oven built into the Tovala App. They include a list of ingredients you can buy from your local grocery store, instructions on prep, and of course the smart oven takes care of the cooking. All you do is find the recipe you want on the app and press press “cook” on your phone, and the oven knows what you are making, and how to cook it perfectly. If you’re like me, this feature is incredible. I have set my kitchen oven to the wrong temperature more times than I would like to admit, but now with the smart oven, I’ve got one less variable to worry about.
Meal Subscription: If leaving your house to buy food is something you just don’t do, Tovala has you covered here with their meal subscription service. They have a weekly rotating menu of 24 different fresh food dishes that arrive fresh at your door. All you have to do is scan the QR code that comes with the meal, and the smart oven does the rest. These meals start at only $10 a serving. This is actually super reasonable if you are in the camp of people who are constantly getting food delivered to you via uber eats or door dash. Or if you’re single living in a big city where grocery shopping isn’t the most convenient. The food arrived fresh and had instructions to store in the fridge. While you may freeze your Tovala meals to enjoy later, they recommend keeping them in the fridge and enjoying within 7 days, which is what we did. The best part - the food is actually SO GOOD. Like so good. Jason and I were blown away by how flavorful each of the 4 different dishes were that we got to try. We truly didn’t feel like we were making any compromises’s on the quality of our dinner. They were also so easy to make and required no additional prep outside of open the package, pouring on cheese or sauce, and sticking it in the oven. If you live in a big city where grocery shopping is tough, this meal subscription is a no-brainer. Plus if you’ve got a busier schedule where making a hot meal is a little more difficult the meal subscription is super convenient!! I like to do other quick tasks while my meal is cooking as well :)
Which Tovala Smart Oven Is The Best?
The Tovala Smart Oven 5-in-1. This is the oven that I have and it is gorgeous. You can Air-fry, bake, broil, reheat, and toast with this oven.
The Tovala Smart Oven 6-in-1. The main difference between the smart oven and the smart oven pro is the steam function. The smart oven pro has all the same features as the original.
The best oven really comes down to how much you want to spend. The regular 5-in-1 smart oven is $249, while the pro is $299. The steam function in the pro obviously gives you greater versatility in the types of dishes you can cook.
